At the moment there are no complete details other than what is on line, the cosplay organiser will be updating the website when she's got all the details down. I'd check back this time next month for those details, they should be down by then. For now the comp is registered on the day, there is a category for made and bought and that's all as yet.

There is a change in policy regarding weapons. We are allowing weapons to be carried around on site but large dangerous weapons will be taken from you and only allowed during photo shoots and the Cosplay Competition, this rule will be at the organisers discretion. Any metal weapons must be sheathed and stay this way throughout the festival. Anyone unsheathing metal weapons will be removed from venue.

For Cosplayers there are male and female changing rooms on site and lockers, you will be charged for the locker use as they are coin operated so make sure you bring change.

Cosplay contest basic rules:

* Sign up will be on the day at the cosplay desk from 10am – 4pm.
* we are not allowing groups as we are judging individual cosplay only.
* There will be a limited number of slots available on the day so book early to avoid disappointment.
* NO skits
* To be in with a chance of winning any of the prizes costumes must be 80% hand made we are offering a small prize for the best bought in costume.
* Props: NO confetti, fireworks, glitter, flash paper, rose petals, water or other small messy objects are allowed on stage. Also NO food, remote control devices AND defiantly no throwing items into the crowd! (thanks to Chibicon and J-Con for this ruling)

The cosplay contest will be judged on 3 things.

1. (1-10 points) How well the characters costume looks compared to the anime and or manga, we will be taking into account if the costume was hand made or bought from a store or online.

2. (1-5 points) How will you act like the character, if you are playing a shy character and come on the stage jumping around and being loud you will not get many points.

3. Unique! (1-20) The judges will be around all day and will be looking at all the cosplays. If they see many Naruto's then all of them are going to get low points, but if they see a unique cosplay they will get more.

This is probably a silly question but what exactly is meant by 80% home made. Does it mean literally 80% sewn by you? or does it just mean things that weren't bought from a specific cosplay set (like a cosplay site or another cosplayer)?

80% of the costume must be made by yourself, the other 20% can be made up of accessories bought from a site but the main bulk of the costume must be made or sewn by you or helped by a relative. Bought in costumes will be knocked down in points and will only be entered for a low prize.

What about if you're not actually copying anime or manga? For example, I'll be doing a 'lolita' style however It will be my own theme of lolita e.g. my own twist and won't be specificly themed like 'Gothic Lolita/Sweet Lolita' etc...

Hi :)

I was wondering if, since this is a Japanese festival, does the costume has to be from a Japanese source in order to be entered into the competition?

Just wondering what costume I should bring along is all, and this would massively influence my decision! :)

I am also curious about the cosplay and whether it has to be from an anime/manga or not, since I only currently have a cosplay of Geralt from the video game The Witcher. I would like to cosplay but wouldnt want to be cosplaying something that doesnt belong :/
