Origami Demonstration Stall

Postby OrigamiFun » Tue 20 Sep 2011 8:44 pm

I'm going to be running the origami demonstration stall which will also sell completed origami. It would be great if people could suggest things they would like to learn at the stall. If they're relatively simple then you could come make it at the festival! So far, we are planning on teaching people to make cranes, boxes and lotus flowers so there's a mix :)
Any other suggestions are also welcome, thanks x

Would you be able to make a giant fan/parasol origami? I have an obsession with Japenese fans/parasols since I think they're sooooo pretty with all the lace and details.

An other idead is the Cat - Like the lucky cats you get from Japan 8-) I love those things with their waving arms/hands.
On the note of a Cat what about doing the zodiac animals? If you need inspiration i suggest looking at the naime 'Fruit Basket' which is quite popular and revolves around the zodiac animals :D

Hope this helps

Hi, I don't think there's any large fan origami we can make apart from the normal simple one. The cat and zodiac ideas are great though, we've going be selling cat bookmarks and also 3D cats on the day :)
I'm going to look into some of the zodiac animals for origami now and see what turns up, I love Fruits Basket!

Thank you :)

I think it's a great idea to make an origami demonstration stall! I used to own some origami books, but I never understood the instructions unless somebody showed me how I should do it! It was hopeless otherwise ;) At many japanese events people make cranes at the moment, but I like it when there is more variety therefore I think it's a good idea to include other animals, like frogs, cats, dogs and pigs! :)
Concerning me I also like flower origami. I imagine myself to get flowers delivered and then I cover my whole room with origami flowers. This would look too awesome to be true :D
